Serious overcrowding at South Tipp General

Emergency staff at South Tipperary General Hospital are under serious pressure today.

New figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there are currently 21 patients on trolleys and chairs in the A&E with a further half dozen or so waiting to be seen, some for several hours.

The only other hospitals in the country to have a higher number of people awaiting a bed are University Hospital Limerick, Our Lady's in Drogheda and Beaumont in Dublin.
