President to visit North Tipperary

President Michael D. Higgins pays his second visit to Tipperary in less than a week later today.

Having visited Clonmel on Friday his first port of call today will to officially open the Waterman's Lodge Respite Centre in Ballina on the shores of Lough Derg.

Work on restoring the former country house began in 2009 – it now provides respite for Alzheimer patients.

At midday President Higgins will open the Nenagh Community Garden Project at Cudville.

Following a reception at the Town Hall President Michael D Higgins will visit Nenagh Castle to mark phase one of restoration works on the site.

He previously visited the site in 1997 during his time as Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht.

After his visit to Nenagh the President will then launch the Convergence 2012 Roadshow and visit the Ecovillage in Cloughjordan.
