Major expansion for two Tipp companies

Technopath Clinical Diagnostics in Ballina are to create 60 new posts while Thurles based AQS are to add 50 people to their workforce.

Environment Minister Alan Kelly has described both announcements as a sign of what local entrepreneurs can achieve in the right business environment.

Based in Ballina on the shores of Lough Derg, Technopath Clinical Diagnostics is a global leader in quality controls and software for clinical laboratories.

They have today announced a €5 million expansion in manufacturing capacity to support the rapid growth of its Multichem and IAMQC product range.

This investment will more than treble its manufacturing range in Ballina.

The expansion of the business will result in the creation of 60 new jobs over the next 2 years…a number of these positions have already been filled.

The expansion will be officially opened by Minister Alan Kelly this morning.

Meanwhile Thurles based AQS is set to hire 50 new staff over the next 18 months.

They are one of the largest providers of drainage, industrial and waste management services in Ireland and are located in the Archerstown Industrial Estate.

The company, which currently employs 65 staff, were recently purchased by the Manchester based company, Lanes Group.

Managing Director of AQS Environmental Solutions, Benny McCarthy says a €5 million investment in technology and equipment was particularly welcome as it would allow their company to expand and grow over the next eighteen months.
