20% of Garda stations in the Premier County have no dedicated member of the force attached to them.

Figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show that 8 of the 37 stations in Tipperary are policed by officers from neighbouring stations.

The village of Bansha in West Tipp was one of eight stations across the country to lose its last permanent Garda last year.

However a new permanent officer was assigned to the Garda station in Holycross in 2016.
