High Court action taken against Tipperary man

A High Court action against Tipperary native Dr. Michael Shine gets underway today.

A man who claims he was sexually abused by Dr Shine during a hospital examination 19 years ago is taking the action.

35 year old Ronan MacConnoran claims the abuse occurred during an examination by the orthopaedic surgeon in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

He is suing Mr Shine, the HSE and a nominee of the Medical Missionaries of Mary, the former owners of the hospital.

The jury was selected yesterday to hear the case.
