Director of CU moves to allay members merger concerns

A Director of Thurles Credit Union has moved to allay concerns members have about the proposed merger of Nenagh and Thurles Credit Unions.

Members have been assured that both Credit Unions are financially sound, and are growing membership.

The strategy aims to continue to grow the membership to upwards of 40,000, and the merger also would provide expanded services to members.

Information nights have been held in Nenagh and Thurles, and members of both Credit Unions will vote on the proposed merger in the coming months.

Tom Noone, Director of Thurles Credit Union, says that what is being discussed is a merger of two very strong credit unions, not a takeover.

He went on to say that the names above the doors would remain the same, as would the staff.
