Census figures on disability and carers.


Latest Census figures show 14.3% of County Tipperary people have a disability.

This compares with 13% of the population for the State as a whole.

According to the Central Statistics Office 22,660 people in Tipperary have a disability.

The latest Census 2011 figures focus in detail on disability and carers who provide unpaid assistance.

Over 7,100 people or 4.5% of the population of the county were providing unpaid assistance to others.

It also showed that 176 children under the age of 15 years were engaged in providing care to others, accounting for 2.5% per cent of all carers in County Tipperary.
