Application to extend planning time-frame for Lough Derg holiday homes refused.

A planned holiday home development near Lough Derg has fallen victim to the economic decline.

Permission had been granted in 2008 for 20 holiday homes at Stonepark, Ballinderry.

However work has not yet started on the project – earlier this year Moncan Developments sought permission to extend the planning permission by five years.

In their application the company cited the decline in housing demand as the reason why work had not started.

They now hoped to commence work in 2015

However North Tipperary County Council's planning department refused an extension of duration – they point to changes in the County Development Plan since the original application as one of the reasons for refusal.
