Review of out of hours GP service in Thurles welcomed.

Currently the on call system in the Mid Tipp town finishes at 11 pm on weekdays and isn't available on weekend nights while the nearest doctor available is 30 kilometres away.

Up to 6000 people use the service annually and the issue was raised at the latest meeting of the HSE West Regional Health Forum.

Tipperary County Councillor and forum member Sinn Fein's David Doran is hopeful of a positive review. He says the late night cover at present is provided by a doctor from Nenagh which he feels is not good enough.
