International media attention will be focused on West Tipperary today as a key figure in the recent Northern Ireland peace talks is honoured for his efforts.
US diplomat Richard Haass will be presented with the Tipperary Peace Award for playing a “very prominent and significant role in assisting the peace process”.
Dr Haass will be accompanied by his family for the event at Ballykisteen at 4 o'clock this afternoon with a number of other high profile guests also set to be present.
Tipperary Peace Convention spokesperson Martin Quinn says the annual award is also a huge boost for the county and puts it on the world map.
