Tipp TD’s speak out on referendums

4 say they will be voting yes on both issues – one will be voting no while the 6th deputy says he will be keeping his electoral intentions at the ballot box private.

With just four days left before the country goes to the polls for the upcoming referendums on same sex marriage and lowering the age for presidential candidates, Tipp FM surveyed all of the county's Deputies to see which way they would be casting their ballots.

Four of them – Labour Minister Alan Kelly, Junior Fine Gael Minister Tom Hayes, Deputy Noel Coonan also Fine Gael, and Independent Deputy Seamus Healy say they will be voting yes on both issues

However Minister Hayes says it’s up to individuals to make up their mind on this

Independent TD Mattie McGrath says he will be voting no on both referendums – and believes the issue surrounding lowering the age of presidential candidates shouldn't even be on a ballot paper

However Minister Alan Kelly who is voting yes on both issues feels it was important to put the proposals to alter the age of presidential candidates to the electorate

Meanwhile Independent TD Michael Lowry who has been silent on this issue to date told Tipp FM that he hasn't issued any statements or made any comment to try and publicly influence or sway the outcome.

Deputy Lowry told Tipp FM’s Seamus Martin that it will continue to be his position.
