Senior Minister expects European Commission job for Ireland

The Justice Minister says she expects Ireland to be given a European Commission job which is critical to Ireland's own interests.

Frances Fitzgerald says the next Irish Commissioner should get a role which Ireland itself considers important.

EU leaders are meeting in Brussels today to decide who should be the President of the next Commission – with Jean-Claude Juncker the strong favourite.

But the Minister for Justice says whoever Ireland sends to Brussels should get a job relevant to Ireland.
