People in Tipperary are being urged to remember their older neighbours this Christmas.
Census figures show that one in three over 65's are living alone.
Meanwhile medical evidence suggests 1 in 10 older people suffer loneliness to the extent that it affects both their physical and mental health.
Sean Moynihan is CEO of the charity Alone – he is asking people right across Tipperary to visit their elderly neighbours over Christmas.
However he is also reminding older people not to be afraid to ask for help.
