Men linked to criminal activity in Tipperary due in court

The three men were among five men arrested in Rathangan, County Kildare yesterday over the theft of E-S-B overhead power cables.

Two were released without charge.

Large-scale cable theft has been causing major power outages across the country – with than 140 kilometres of power lines stolen so far this year for their copper.

€4.6 million has been spent on repairing the damage.

The gang is suspected of being active in Tipperary, Clare and Galway in recent months.

The three arrested are to appear in court in Dublin at 10.30 this morning.
