Irish Water not delaying taking in charge of Tipperary estates.

A Senior Tipperary County Council planner has warned of the potential for huge liability if the authority takes charge of unfinished estates without a full assessment.

There's increasing concern many uncompleted housing developments will continue to remain in limbo because Irish Water is involved in the process of asssessing them for council takeover.

Dozens of Tipperary estates with problems such unfinished roads and poor lighting are under review and councillors want the authority to deal with some of the minor issues in the meantime.

However the council insist there are people working on the ground on a continuous basis but the process is lengthy and complicated

Senior Planner Brian Beck says while Irish Water is a factor it's not stopping them from doing their job – they are still working through the estates on other issues.
