Additional Garda checkpoints will be set up across the region throughout this bank holiday weekend as part of Operation Surround targetting drink driving, the use of mobile phones and the wearing of seatbelts.
People that do go out over the weekend are also being reminded to ensure that they are below the legal limit before driving the following day.
Inspector Eddie Golden of Cahir Traffic Corp says that if someone drives after having a drink, they run the risk of being arrested.
