Coveney shocked by homelessness report

The Housing Minister has described the latest homelessness figures as shocking.

A report by the Simon Community shows an increase of almost a third in the number of homeless people in Dublin in 2015.

Simon Coveney says addressing the issue is top of the agenda.

168 people slept rough on the streets of Dublin last night.

That's the highest number ever according to The Dublin Simon Community, which also reported 60 people sleeping on the floor of the Merchants Quay Cafe.

The charity has launched its annual report – which shows an increase of almost a third in the number of homeless people in Dublin in 2015.
