Shop owners in the Premier County are being urged to keep an eye out for opportunist thieves this Christmas and New Year.
Many retailers report an increase in theft over the festive period particularly when sales are on and shops are busy.
Gardaí are urging them to be proactive in targeting thieves or scam artists.
Inspector Eddie Golden of Cahir Garda Station says business owners need to be more aware and take practical steps to avoid being targeted.
