The British Embassy in the Turkish capital Ankara will be closed to the public today for security reasons.
The move comes after Germany temporarily closed its embassy and consular offices in the country amid reports of a possible attack during the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.
Meanwhile the Department of Foreign Affairs is urging Irish citizens to exercise a high degree of caution in the country.
It says the situation in Istanbul and Ankara remains particularly tense.
