It estimates that enough water to fill 18 Olympic size swimming pools – is being lost every day through leaking pipes – on the customers’ side of the meter.

Elizabeth Arnett, spokeswoman for Irish Water, said the numbers showed the northwest region has the highest number of household leakages.
