A Tipperary businessman and Green Party member has questioned why Eirgrid would want to bring a major power line through the county.
Con Traas of the Apple Farm near Cahir was among a large number of people who attended a public information meeting on the project in Clonmel last evening.
The 440kv line will be carried on pylons from Cork to Kildare via Wexford.
A number of potential routes have been selected including two through Tipperary.
Con Traas sees no benefits in bringing the line through the Premier County.
