The Drom & Inch clubman won five Munster Senior Hurling medals but lost out on most of the 2010 season due to a serious leg break which occurred in the 2009 county senior hurling final.
Speaking to Tipp FM Sport on his retirement James said every moment he spent wearing the blue and gold jersey was special whether it was a challenge game in Dr Morris Park or an All Ireland in Croke Park.
