Tommy Toomey says 'it was a hard decision' to leave the Tipperary senior football set-up.
The Arravale Rovers club man is now part of the backroom team put together by recently appointed Laois boss Peter Creedon.
He is also a prominent figure in underage coaching circles and led the Tipp U21 footballers to the All-Ireland final in 2015.
But Toomey thinks the switch to the Leinster county has come at the right time.
