Tipp County Board to tackle player burnout

Tipperary County Board are looking at changing rules to ensure that players in the county don't burn out too early in their careers.

The Player Welfare Committee raised the issue of the level and intensity of training, the number of matches that are on and the possibility of burnout at the County Board meeting in Thurles last evening.

The committee recommended that changes should be made so that players reach their peak in their early to mid twenties.

The recommendations will go before the County Management Committee, and will then be brought forward and ratified at the next County Board Meeting.

County Secretary Tim Floyd says that too much is being asked of some players, and he hopes that the situation can be improved.
