Tipperary ladies footballers have been promoted to Division 2 of the National League, following an impressive win over Wexford.

The Premier won by two points, but the game was not without its drama.

Following a slow start the girls went in 5 points down at half time, but rallied in the second half keeping Wexford scoreless for 20 minutes and going ahead.

But it was not all smooth sailing as Gillian O’Brien, Maria Curley and Aisling Moloney all saw yellow cards in the second half to leave Tipp with just 12 players for a time.

Tipperary continued to dominate in the closing stages of the second half however, and the game finished up with 13 players, on a scoreline of Tipperary 0-15 Wexford 1-10

Tipp captain Samantha Lambert says they’re delighted with promotion to Division 2
