Almandin, ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, has won the 156th Melbourne Cup, Australia's most popular horse race.
Heartbreak City came second, with race favourite Hartnell third.
The Melbourne Cup is the world's richest two-mile handicap, and a crowd of more than 100-thousand was expected at the Flemington Racecourse.
