Leicester City are said to have missed the signing of Adrien Silva by 14 seconds.
Reports claim the Foxes agreed a deal with Sporting Lisbon for the Portugal midfielder, but just missed the transfer deadline.
It means Silva won’t be able to play until January, although Leicester are thought to be appealing.
Meanwhile, Swansea defender Kyle Bartley has been ruled out for three months after undergoing surgery on a knee injury.
The centre-back sustained the problem in last month’s 4-1 League Cup win over M-K Dons.
