Ireland face Serbia in make or break tie

The Republic of Ireland are preparing for a pivotal night in their World Cup qualification campaign.

The Boys in Green will move to the top of Group D if they beat Serbia at the Aviva Stadium.

Anything less than a win however, would put them in danger of falling to third.

Wales are expected to win in Moldova this eveing.

Chris Coleman’s side currently lie two points behind Ireland and have a better goal difference.

It is hoped that Norwich playmaker Wes Hoolahan can overcome a tight groin issue, to line out tonight.

Aiden McGeady is also an injury doubt due to a hamstring problem, but neither player has been ruled out.

Ireland are looking to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointing draw with Georgia in Tbilisi.

Jonathan Walters says it is up to the players to get the campaign back on track.
