Tipperary Senior hurling manager Michael Ryan says getting their game off to the right start was key in securing his side's first competitive win of the year.

The Premier County defeated Dublin 1-23 to 0-12 at Semple Stadium on Saturday night in the first round of the Allianz National Hurling League.

The victory means Tipperary have an early advantage in the race for quarter-final places over their next opponents Kilkenny, who were beaten yesterday by Waterford.

Tipp manager Michael Ryan says the aggressive approach adopted against the Dubs paid dividends.
