Today's 12th stage is one of the toughest mountain stages of this year's race, featuring four categorised climbs, including the hors category ascent to the finish line at the top of the Plateau de Beille.
Carrick on Suir's Sam Bennett finished safely in the “Grupetto” with the other sprinters such as Mark Cavendish and Andre Greipel yesterday.
However tiredness appears to be catching up with the 24 year old Tour debutant. The Bora Argon 18 rider this morning tweeted “Got up from the breakfast table and automatically said 'good night' to everyone at the table…. I think I’m cooked.”
