The Englishman is 2 under for the day to move up to 10 under par, one clear of Callum Shinkwin.
However Padraig Harrington is finding life difficult so far at Dundonald Links – he’s 3 over for the day to drop back to 6 under.
That’s the same score as Paul Dunne after he hit round of 69.
Graeme McDowell is another shot further back on 5 under after a 68.
