The Tipperary school's sole victory in the prestigious provincial hurling competion was in 1978, when they scored a come-from-behind win against St Flannans of Ennis.

Their run to this year's decider has been testing, most particularly at the semi-final stage when Our Lady's got the better of De La Salle Waterford after extra-time.
