Nenagh’s Long calls for policy change

One of Tipperary's top players is calling on the IRFU to let centrally contracted players line out more regularly for their clubs.

Nenagh Ormond's John Long doesn't believe there would be any downsides to the union altering its current policy.

Many commentators claim the All-Ireland League has become a less attractive competition since the game's star players began to have their appearances in it restricted.

John isn't optimistic that the status quo will change any time soon.

Ulster will be without both Luke Marshall and Craig Gilroy for this Friday's Pro 12 trip to Glasgow.

Marshall suffered a concussive injury in last week's victory over the Scarlets.

Gilroy will miss the next couple of weeks with a toe injury picked up in the same game.

Meanwhile, Andrew Trimble's return to action has been delayed due to a minor foot injury.

Leinster will be hoping to welcome back both Johnny Sexton and Rhys Ruddock for their meeting with in-form Ospreys.

Sexton hasn't played since picking up a shoulder injury in last season's Pro 12 final.

The timing of the pair's return is ideal, with Ospreys having claimed bonus point wins in each of their first three games of the season.
