Munster Junior Cup final ends in a stalemate

Shannon got off the mark first in the Munster Junior Cup Final in treacherous conditions in Thomand Park with heavy rain.

Ronan McKenna got the Limerick side off the mark after he kicked an early penalty.

Both kickers exchanged penalties in the first half with Clonmel going in 6 points to 3 up at half time.

Shannon came out firing in the second half scoring an early penalty which was followed by an intercept try on the 50th minute and saw the Limerick men pull in front 13 points to 6.

Alex Sheehan for Clonmel then crossed Shannon's white line which Conor Cooney duly converted.

Cooney then put Clonmel ahead from the kicking tee as Clonmel led 16 points to 13.

But the Shannon side weren't finished yet and Ronan McKenna levelled matters with a succesful penalty.

The full-time score was Clonmel 16 Shannon 16.

A time and date for the replay has yet to be announced.
