Mistakes cost Tipperary dearly in loss to Galway

It finished Tipperary 4-12 Galway 4-17 in their Round 4A Qualifier clash at O' Connor Park in Tullamore.

Tipperary started well and established a 0-06 to 0-04 lead more than midway though the first-half, but Peter Creedon’s team were hitting far too many wides and turning the ball over too easily, which Galway- with their greater pace- began to exploit.

The Tribesmen eventually gained the lead, with goals from Fiontan O' Curraoin & Thomas Flynn ensuring that Alan Mulholland’s men headed in at the break with a 2-07 to 0-07 lead.

However, if Tipperary used half-time to gather themselves, it didn’t show in the opening minutes of the second-half, with another brief period of 'madness' leading to Galway scoring two killer goals, through Danny Cummins and Michael Lundy

Brian Fox scored a goal about ten minutes into the second-half to give the Premier County hope.

That hope was added to by further strikes from Brian Mulvihill and Colin O' Riordan, with Conor Sweeney then scoring a very late penalty.

However, Galway, with the benefit of the wind, ultimately pushed on to victory.

Galway will now play Kerry in the All-Ireland SFC Quarter-Finals.
