LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena says Robbie Keane will be back within a month.
The former Spurs and Liverpool forward missed the Euro 2016 warm ups with Switzerland and Slovakia due to a knee injury and has since undergone surgery.
Meanwhile, former Ireland midfielder Andy Townsend is being linked with a position at his former club Aston Villa.
Townsend is in line to become Director of football which would see him work with the clubs incoming manager.
Villa are currently nine points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League.
