HawkEye to go ‘live’ in Semple Stadium

There's also a possibility that the score detection system could be used at the Thurles venue if it's selected to host the Allianz National Hurling Semi-Finals on April 17th or the Final on May 1st.

The technology was trialled at Tipp's three home NHL games – against Dublin, Waterford and Cork – and also the All-Ireland Club Hurling Championship Semi-Final betwen Na Piarsiagh and Oulart the Ballagh last month.

It's also reported that it could be tested again during the All-Ireland Colleges Hurling Final between Ard Scoil Ris and St Kieran's College on Easter Monday.

HawkEye has been used at Croke Park since 2013.

However, its operation has not been without controversy – Limerick were denied a perfectly good point in the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship Semi-Final against Galway in August that year after the technology wrongly determined the shot hadn't gone over the bar.
