Extra time win for Loughmore Castleiney in Mid decider

Loughmore Castleiney were crowned Mid senior football champions when they overcame a strong challenge from Upperchurch Drombane winning 1-12 to 1-9 after extra time in the Ragg last night.

Paudie Greene raised a green flag for the Church before a Brian McGrath goal for Loughmore brought them back into the game as they went in a point down at the break.

A low scoring second half meant a Pat Shortt point for the Church 9 minutes from time was the final score of normal time with the teams tied 1-8 a piece.

The teams traded points before three late Loughmore points in the second period of extra time from Evan Sweeney, Aiden McGrath and Liam McGrath saw them over the line.

Loughmore manager Declan Laffan told Tipp FM Sport there was never much between them.
