Dundalk lose to AZ Alkmaar

Dunalk manager Stephen Kenny says last nights 1-0 defeat to AZ Alkmaar in Tallaght was their worst performance in Europe so far this season.

The Lillywhites destiny is no longer in their own hands however they can still reach the last 32 if they get a score draw away to Maccabi Tel Aviv and Zenit beat Alkmaar in two weeks time.

Kenny says his side showed some fight in the second half but it wasn't enough.

Meanwhile, Manchester United seem to have finally found their feet in Europe.

Their 4-nil trouncing of Feyenoord means Joses Mourinho's side need only a draw away to Zorya on the final night of group games.

Elsewhere, Tipperary's Shane Long played the full 90-minutes of Southampton's 1-nil loss away to Group K leaders Sparta Prague.

The Saints welcome Hapoel Beer Sheva to St. Mary's in a fortnight for what will effectively be a play-off for a knockout spot.
