Fresh from the biggest win of his career so far in Friday’s final stage of Tour of Qatar Carrick on Suir's Sam Bennett returns to action today.
The Team Bora Argon 18 rider will once again lead the squad in the Tour of Oman.
Today’s opening 160 kilometre stage of the 6 day race on the Arabian Peninsula will finish in Muscat.
Now in its 6th year the Tour of Oman has attracted 18 teams – among them 2014 Tour de France winner Vincenzo Nibali of the Astana team and Spaniard Alejandro Valverde of the Movistar team.
While they will be focusing on the 2 mountain-top finishes Bennett will be hoping to show his sprinting prowess in the flatter stages where he'll be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Alexander Kristoff of Katusha, Etixx QuickStep's Niki Terprsta and Peter Sagan of Tinkoff Saxo
