A bonus point system to be trialled in Six Nations

The Six Nations has confirmed that they will use a bonus point system on a trial basis in 2017.

A win will be worth 4 points while a team that wins scoring 4 tries will be awarded 5 points and a team that loses by less than 7 will be awarded 1 point for their efforts.

The system will be used across the senior, under 20 and women's tournaments.

Six Nations Chief executive John Feehan says they are conscious that they must reward try scoring and an attacking style of play that will deliver more tries and greater rewards for fans and players alike.
