The initiative builds on the legacy of community involvement in The Gathering, and is a joint partnership between Failte Ireland, the 31 local authorities and IPB insurance.
The scheme, which is now in its second year, provides an annual fund of one million euro to support local community based events and festivals.
In 2014, 376 local events were supported by the fund.
