Barrett return ruled out

Tipperary senior hurling manager Michael Ryan says it’s time to put the Cathal Barrett saga behind them and focus on the squad of players around him.

There had been considerable speculation that the Holycross Ballycahill corner-back might be recalled to the Tipp panel after he was dropped for disciplinary reasons earlier in the campaign.

However speaking to Tipp FM’s Sports Editor Stephen Gleeson manager Michael Ryan said Barrett won’t be making a return this year.

He says the focus now is on getting the best from his players as they prepare for an All Ireland semi-final against Galway on August 6th.

Meanwhile Seamus Callanan look set to be fit for the All Ireland semi final with Galway.

The All star forward is making good progress in his recovery from a hand injury.
