Sarsfields lose out to Ballyea in provincial thriller

Ballyea of Clare beat the Tipp champions 4-18 to 2-22 in the provincial semi-final.

Sars made a slow start but fought their way back into the match and led 1-11 to 2-4 by the break in normal time.

Indeed, they seemed on course for a place in the decider with just minutes remaining but a Gary Brennan goal for the team from the Banner forced an additional period of play.

Ballyea prospered during the extra twenty minutes although a goal from Sars' Padraic Maher drew the Tipp side level after 75 minutes.

The Clare kingpins weren't rattled by this and regained their composure to win courtesy of a free and and a 65 from Niall Deasy.
