Leinster football championship begins with double-header

There's two first round games down for decision as part of a double-header at O'Moore Park in Portlaoise.

The opening match will see Carlow clash with Louth in a meeting of two Division 4 sides – although Louth enjoyed an impressive league season that ended in promotion to Division 3 for next year.

Throw-in for the opening game is at 5pm and it will be followed by the meeting of Laois and Wicklow, with the winners advancing to face Dublin in the quarter-finals.

Throw-in for the second part of that double-header is at 7pm.

Meanwhile, there's also action in the Leinster Minor Hurling semi-finals today.

Offaly will play host to Wexford at O'Connor Park in Tullamore.

And Dublin go up against the Kilkenny Minors at Parnell Park.

Both games will throw-in at 3pm.
