The Clare county board will have to begin the process of finding a new senior hurling manager after Davy Fitzgerald stepped-down from the post last night.
The 45-year-old has ended his four-year tenure in charge of his native county after a meeting of the senior players on Monday night, which indicated that some key members of the dressing-room felt that it was time for a change.
During his time in charge, Fitzgerald led the Banner to the 2013 All Ireland title as well as their first National League title in almost 40 years.
