Thumb injury shouldn’t hamper Sexton for Italy clash

Ireland coach Joe Schmidt says Johnny Sexton should be available for their next Six Nations game against Italy despite having his hand in a splint after hurting his thumb.

The Racing Metro out half has returned to his club while the Irish medical team will examine scans today.

Schmidt says Brian O'Driscoll should also be fit fore the game against the Azzuri and will return to training this week while Peter O'Mahony will be managed in the nest few days so he can return to training next week.
