Despite Simon Zebo scoring the only try of the game, they went down by 24-16 to Toulon in their Heineken Cup Semi-Final in Marseille.
Ian Keatley kicked the rest of Munster's points, with Johnny Wilkinson unerring with the boot, scoring 21 points for the defending champions.
Toulon will now face Saracens in the Heineken Cup Final.
