First two quarter finals of All Ireland Football Championship today

The first two quarter-finals in the All-Ireland Football Championship is the focus of attention today.

The action gets underway at Croke Park at 2pm when Kerry’s All-Ireland credentials will be put on the line against Galway.

The Tribesmen suffered a surprise defeat to Roscommon in the Connacht final, but responded in the perfect fashion with a huge win over Donegal in the qualifiers.

Kerry have come through the quarter-final stage 14 times in the 16 years since the introduction of the qualifiers, but it’s been four weeks since they were last in action.

They were comfortable winners over Cork in the Munster final.

Galway manager Kevin Walsh is well aware of the task facing them today.

Then at 4pm it’s an all-Connacht affair as Roscommon take on Mayo.

Mayo needed extra-time to see off Cork in last week’s qualifier, and they face a Roscommon side on a high after claiming their first provincial title in seven years.

The two winners from today’s ties will meet in the semi-finals on August 20th.
