Irish Open tees off today

With new sponsors and increased backing, the tournament which is hosted by the Rory Foundation now boasts an impressive four-million euro prize fund which has attracted some of the big names of European golf to County Kildare.

Tournament host Rory McIlroy says that he's hoping to fill-in one of the most glaring omissions from his impressive CV…

McIlroy will be one of the afternoon starters today when he's joined by defending champion Søren Kjeldsen and England's Andy Sullivan on the first tee at 25-past one.

Paul McGinley, Padraig Harrington and 2009 champion Shane Lowry will be among the players to begin their challenge this morning.

The action begins at the K Club at half-past seven.
